Artist of the Month/Year Contest

There are no themes to enter! Bring in any piece of art, 2D and 3D, that you are proud of and think has a chance for a First, Second, or Third Place rosette ribbon. ALW members will vote on their favorite piece during the snack break and the prize will be awarded after the guest speaker is finished. We really enjoy seeing all of your works so keep on producing your art!

Contest Rules:

a. Bring your artwork to a meeting during September through March. There are no themes. Simply enter your favorite piece each month.  In April bring your piece that won AOM and we will vote for Artist of the Year.

b. Artwork is defined as: painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography, computer art, fiber arts, etc.

c. Each artist must be in attendance during the full meeting in order to enter a piece and be eligible to win.  

d. There is no fee to enter, but you must be a member of ALW with dues paid and current.

e. For artwork that is behind glass, the artist must provide either a photo or a digital file that was made BEFORE the art was placed behind glass.

f. Size - no limits

g. In an effort to give as many members as possible a chance to win, once a member has won a First Place ribbon, they may no longer enter their artwork on succeeding months. Instead, they will have the opportunity to enter the winning piece again or an alternative piece, if the first one is not availabe, in May for the Artist of the Year ribbon with the other monthly winners.

h. Important! Designated volunteers will be in charge of receiving and displaying all contest art. Please do not display your art yourself.   

i. Any damage is the artist’s responsibility. If you are concerned about damage, please do not enter.

j. Only paid-up members in attendance can vote for the art piece they like the best. Popular vote wins.

k. In case of a tie for either First, Second, or Third place, a run-off vote will be held to select one winner where appropriate.

l. Each month’s winner will have their art work on the ALW website for approximately one month. The winner of the April contest, ie: Artist of the Year, will have their art work on the ALW website from approximately mid-April through mid- September.
